Water kefir is good for you. Even though there’s not a lot of science yet behind it, we know its good. Our customers know it’s good. This study brings to light some of the health benefits of water kefir in terms of antioxidant potency and potential.

According to Cleavland Clinic, there are 3 vitamins that are essential for fighting back colds and flu. It’s Vitamin C, B6 and Zinc. Kefir is relatively high in Zinc and B6, but not so high in vitamin C.

Here at Yemoos Nourishing Cultures, we love to grow our water kefir grains big. Typically water kefir grains won't grow super lager, because they are more fragile than milk kefir grains and tend to break apart early in the process.

The short answer is surprisingly, yes. Water kefir grains and ginger beer plant will survive tap water with all that chlorine, chloramine, fluoride, THM’s, HAA’s, anti-depressants, and other contaminants.

Most of the time when milk kefir grains grow or multiple, they show new growth on old grains (where the grains get bigger) or they split off and make new grains.

Given the legendary status of kefir grains and its potency, its surprising that there is not a lot of scientific data available when it comes to bacteria count. However, there are 3 studies that may shed some light on the probiotic count of kefir.
