They smelled really yeasty when they arrived. Unfortunately I ordered them during an arctic blast. My friend had ordered from you before and I had some of her grains for years. These grains look great but have yet to do anything to the sugar water and aren't making kefir. I will reorder when winter is over.
I’m on my 3rd attempt at doing water kefir. My 1st time I started with dehydrated grains, and they never got going. My 2nd try was with live grains but the quantities I received were small, the grains were small, and none of the things I tried got them to grow—though they did produce some decent kefir over the 2-3 months I had them going.
But this batch has been amazing over the past 2 weeks I’ve used them, more than doubling in size twice already. I’m using the Yemoos kefir food, so maybe that’s part of it, but what I received to start with were big happy, healthy grains.
My only complaint is that the resulting kefir is sweeter than I like but I’m experimenting with a longer ferment, and slightly less food.
Anyway, I highly recommend both the grains and the Yemoos premade kefir grain food.
Even though I had to put the grains in the fridge for a few days after they arrived, they began flourishing quickly. I tossed the first batch of water kefir. But the second was delicious. The third was fizzy enough to enjoy even without a second fermentation. The online instructions are super helpful.
I recommend this site to everyone. I have ordered multiple times from this companyand have always been delighted. They are very healthy grains. I love the adoption certificate…lol and always name them and display the card for all to see. Cracks me up!!!
